Here are some facts about chickens you might like to read. 

*A healthy chicken lays about 265 eggs each year
* Did you know... they are related to the Tyrannosaurus Rex
* They will be less nervous if you walk backwards when entering the coop
* They swallow gravel to help mash the food
* Hens "cluck" after they lay an egg
* People have been raising chickens for more than 7 000 years
* Chickens are farm animals but even people in cities can raise chickens in the backyard
* Chicken coops don't take up much room
* They are raised mostly for their eggs, and meat but they make good pets too.
* They will almost eat anything from grass, bugs, fruit, vegetables and table scraps
